The Queen B Mission

Decades of travel, hard work, and keen observation have shaped the menus and energy at both Queen B Sushi and Queen B Vinyl Cafe. Combined with the power of an incredible collaborative team, and Jen’s and my shared vision, we’ve created a home for exceptional food, wine, and music right here in Old Town Cottonwood, Arizona.

We graciously invite you to immerse yourself in our exquisitely curated, delightfully eccentric and unconventional world.

Led by Chef Brett Vibber, Queen B Sushi’s opening lineup brings together Chefs Thomas Kato and Sher Chase to deliver world-class artistry from day one.

Why Sushi and Why Now?

Although I’ve been enjoying sushi since my days in Boston, circa 1987, my first tour in Japan wasn’t until the year 2000 with A Perfect Circle. It was an eye opening and mind blowing experience. While there I picked up these amazing titanium and hard wood travel chopsticks from Snow Peak. And I’ve carried them ever since.
Last year I ran into Janeane Garofalo at the Chelsea in NYC. She was saying to David Cross and Dave Hill, “I haven’t seen Maynard in several years, but one thing I remember is that he used to carry chopsticks in his pocket.”
At which point I reached into my pocket and pulled them out. 25 years I’ve been carrying these chopsticks. That’s how much I love Sushi.
When Jen and I were deciding on the Brunch and Ramen menu for the Queen B Vinyl Cafe, we dismissed the idea of also doing a sushi concept because we assumed it would be impossible to find a legitimate sushi chef in Cottonwood, Arizona. Turns out he was standing right next to us. Chef Brett Vibber, our Culinary Director, has worked around the world. And he’s highly trained in Japanese cuisine. Who knew? And his vision for food and wine in Arizona seamlessly aligns with ours. So here we are. Queen B Sushi, the sister location of Queen B Vinyl Cafe.
Over the next 6 months, Chef Brett dove into R&D on a sushi menu. And then put those plates to the test. Pop ups were executed at the Queen B Vinyl Cafe and proved fruitful. Fantastic results. Great feedback from our lovely locals.
Now, with our team assembled and the sushi menu perfected, we are thrilled to officially throw open the doors on September 4th.

Our Culinary Director, cut his teeth at Roka Akor London, Hong Kong, U.S., Cartwrights, and is now working his magic at Merkin Vineyards Trattoria, Queen B Vinyl Cafe, and Queen B Sushi.

Chef Thomas honed his craft in Beverly Hills under Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and in NYC under Chef Masaharu Morimoto

Chef Sher, Arizona native, has built his resume in kitchens from California to Texas and now back to his home state.
